Dear
Facilities Management Colleague:
The Johns
Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland, has utilized Custodial Solutions
from Breeze Software for the past four years. We recognized that we needed
to employ state-of-the art technology if we were to successfully take our
custodial operation from the “mom and pop” program it was, to a professional
program that is reflective of the world class stature of our institution.
Before we
implemented Custodial Solutions, our custodial program was like many
others. Unbalanced work assignments, unawareness of supervisors and
managers of the square feet they were cleaning, the absence of benchmarks
for comparing our program to industry standards, lack of records pertaining
to quality assurance, and little or no documentation of project work
performed, were all characteristics of our custodial operation.
Since we
implemented Custodial Solutions, we have taken our housekeeping program to a
level of professionalism never before attainable. The software has helped
us work load our facilities using generally recognized ISSA cleaning times,
and to balance work assignments for either zone-complete or task-complete
assignments. This has not only made our work assignments fairer, but it has
had a positive impact on employee morale. We work loaded facilities based
on generally accepted cleaning times, and then customized them to take into
account actual conditions in our buildings. The use of PDAs to gather
quality assurance data and the extensive array of reports available in
Custodial Solutions turned this data into valuable, reportable information.
I am very
pleased with the increased efficiency brought to our operation by Custodial
Solutions, and I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to professionalize
their program and achieve better results.
Sincerely,
Barry W. Meyer
